Best credit/debit card to use in Europe?
Im fed up of being ripped off by my bank (LLoyda and HSBC) when using my debit card abroad and was hoping that some of you kind people out there can recommend a card to use for mainly paying for meals and the occasional ATM withdrawal and dont rip you off with high charges in the process.

I did Google but all a bit of a minefield.

Thanks in advance.

When I looked into this a few years ago Caxton was one of the best and have been using them ever since.
You just load up the card account with Euros and use it as normal so there are never any extra charges on use, just the one off exchange to Euros.
Not sure if they are still have the best rates, but I've go no complaints.

Have a look at WeSwap.

https://www.weswap.com/en/

Best rates, free to use in most countries and can change currency to what you require when you need it with a touch of your smartphone.

Re: Best credit/debit card to use in Europe?
Halifax.. Draw out at mastercard rates... as long as you pay it off that night no interest and no fees... not sure what can beat that for hard currency??

Postoffice... no transaction fee and you get the mastercard rate... not sure what can beat that for over seas transactions??

Re: Best credit/debit card to use in Europe?
Supercard does that (the Post Office one) but you also earn airmiles. Not sure what can beat that?

Whatever the underlying card earns. Can't remember what I've got mine attached to at the moment.

Revolut - It messages you when a transaction is made - you pre load it and then just use it like a debit card.I set one up for my daughter to go to NY last year and was getting messages, at 2- 3 in the morning, informing me of the "shopping spree" she was on!!!

Metro bank debit card is free to use in Europe. The credit card is free as well but you need to hold a current account

I've got a WeSwap card - the rates and ease of use are bug plusses but, paradoxically. I've not been working in any of the countries on their currency exchange list, so not had a (proper) chance to use it.
